Introduction
Here I have included work I completed for Improvisation. Some of the work demonstrates my general knowledge of music such as arrangement and compositional techniques that I learned throughout the years, but most importantly my sense of harmony and melody which are important for creating music. I have also included some evidence of research which is seen in my Solo Analysis.
Solo Analysis
I have include my solo analysis as it shows my knowledge of arrangement & improvisational techniques and how I am able to effectively communicate them to others. It also shows that I am knowledgeable of different instrument specific techniques which I discussed for both guitar and piano. All of these factors are important for communicating to musicians but also for applying to my own music which I can apply to music on an EP.
Improvisations
I have included my improvisations to further demonstrate that I can apply arrangement and improvisational techniques on my instrument in real time. It also shows that my secure sense of theory and how I am able to apply It to my instrument. All skills which are important for creating music quickly under time constraints that I may face during the production of the EP .
Evaluations
I have included my evaluations as it shows that I am capable of reflecting on my work in order to improve on aspects of my work in future. This also shows my ability to critique my own work in terms of harmony and melody, which I will have to use to evaluate my own music when it comes to creating content for the EP
Conclusion
Overall Improvisation shows that I am knowledgeable of my instrument as in my pieces of work I showcase my playing /performance abilities and that I can apply theory skills that I have learned also.
The work I have done throughout the year connects to my career as these skills are important to quickly come up with musical ideas, as improvisation is very important for communicating musical ideas to others, which is required for composing music with collaborators. It also shows my understanding of harmony and melody which is highly essential for composing engaging and interesting music for an EP
